At the Temple

These pictures are all out of order, but here's the sisters and sisters-in-law and my Mom.
The men folk on the Adair side.

Waiting for Calli and Hayes to come out.

Valerie and I strike a pose...well, mostly I strike a pose.

More waiting

Me and Calli. I love her dress. It was an oldie that my Mom updated. Calli had the idea to add the little jewels that hang off the sleeves. And, I love that she wore her hair down. I wish I would have worn my hair down when I got married. I always tell brides to wear their hair down. It's good advice. It's just prettier and more youthful, and brides should look young. I know a lot of girls who regret wearing their hair up.

I love this picture: all the Aunts inspecting the dress.

I love weddings. It summons all of the out-of-towners back home. Weddings are one of the happiest celebrations that a family can have together.

Utah Part One

It was time for us to go to Utah for Calli's wedding. A few days before we left I began to stress about what kind of tragedy might befall us, since we all know that the minute my little family announces that we are going to Utah, all hell breaks loose. So I hurried and wrapped up my life in California, which included B and I going to see Wicked. (Yay! It was so good!)
And then I finished my contribution to Calli's wedding decorations, which is this little banner made out of burlap and lace. And then we packed everyone and everything up and we hit the road! Before we started we said a prayer in the car for our safety, and as I was saying the prayer a little voice from the backseat (Edmond) piped up and yelled in a whisper voice, "Mom! And say 'please bless we don't hit a coyote!'"

Because we have.

But, this time we didn't hit a coyote. Or break down on the salt flats. Or end up in Primary Children's with Charlie. No. The only drama on this road trip was this:

Three hours into the nine hour drive, after the boys had filled up on hamburgers, beef jerky, fruit snacks and crackers, Charlie throws a fit and gets so upset he starts throwing up. THROWING UP BIG TIME. He ralphed all over himself and his car seat. And poor Edmond, his seat mate, is so disgusted that he starts throwing up too!

I sat in front of them and watched it all happen and just laughed. Laughed because it was like watching Four Christmases when Vince Vahn sees a baby spit up and then he starts dry heaving and saying, "Take it away (the baby) TAKE IT AWAY! I'm gonna do it too!"

Only this wasn't baby spit up. This was the mother of all throw-ups.

Once all the barfing was over, we pulled over and stripped the boys and wiped down their car seats with baby wipes, and then they finished the drive in their underwear.

We had to stop in Carlin to get some Subway and stretch our legs, so the boys just put on their shoes and walked into the store in their underwear. All the bystanders were laughing and saying how cute they were... and so I just made an announcement, real loud and slow to the general public that went something this, "They threw up in the car so we had to take off their clothes and now they're in their underwear."

Everyone nodded and smiled and then we placed our order. One lady approached me and said how cute they were. Then she walked up to Scarlett who was wearing a onesie and said, "And he's cute too!"

"Thanks," I responded, "but he's a she."

Then we grabbed our sandwiches and left.

We arrived in Utah and stayed at Andrea's house. The next day Denise and her family came to Andrea's house too. It was a full house and lots of fun. I hardly saw my children, they were so busy playing with cousins.

One day me and the girls were all in yellow. Total coincidence. Carly wouldn't get in the picture, but she was in yellow too.

One afternoon when I was helping my Mom with wedding stuff, B took Edmond to the Herriman reservoir.

My nephew Jordan draped his long hair over B's head and we took a picture. B looks like Tom Petty, no?
I was lucky enough (and organized enough) to schedule a few short visits with friends. Sini and I were high school besties and Snow College roomies. We keep in touch through our blogs but it's so fun to be able to have conversations and laugh together in person.
I also saw Melissa, Christy and Nicole. Such amazing ladies and Mom's!

Stay tuned for more Utah fun and wedding photos!

Big Striped Drapes

I've been dreaming of my big striped drapes ever since I bought the charcoal and white linen fabric five months ago. Now that the purchase of our house looks like its going to go through, I finally decided to make them. It only took two afternoons.  I used this tutorial from A Thoughtful Place as a guide.

Ignore the unfinished paint job. Some day I'll get motivated enough to finish it.
I used gathering tape at the top, like in the tutorial on Jones Design Company. (By the way, I love her blog. She is very classy and has the best taste.)

Usually my sewing projects are just kind of thrown together and end up looking pretty wonky and haphazard...but I was very careful to measure everything perfectly and I even lined these babies!
So, the room is coming along nicely! Next up: finish the paint job and get a chandelier.

Around Here

I got some new pendant lights. I had been coveting them at West Elm for weeks, but at $100 each they were too pricey for my blood. Then one day while browsing craigslist I discovered that someone was selling a pair for $100!!! I immediately called B and asked him to go the lady's house and buy them on his lunch break. Yay! This was probably my best find ever.

This is how Edmond writes his name.

And Scarlett is so cool with the sunglasses that Edmond put on her. Funny kids.

Joy School Graduation

Edmond graduated from Joy School. We were so proud. So was Edmond.

 Scarlett was proud too.

Edmond said that his favorite part about school was playing with his friend Eli. He also said that when he grows up he wants to be a police man or a fire man.
